Jan Matejko Battle of Grunwald in 3D

The world’s first stereoscopic reconstruction of a painting by Platige Image .

67 unique characters, each rendered as three-dimensional models, come together to form a clear spatial composition. Depth and perspective appear ”within arm’s reach”,  inviting the viewer into the canvas to experience it from a new perspective.

The project posed a challenge to animators, who were required to meticulously interpret and recreate the 1878 original and find solutions to problems such as how to depict figures who were partially obscured by those next to them.

END OVERFISHING

This is nothing to do with art or design or any topics that I’ve post lately , but this is something I think is important and please spread the message if you do care about life around you.

Despite an increased awareness of overfishing, the majority of people still know very little about the scale of the destruction being wrought on the oceans. This film presents an unquestionable case for why overfishing needs to end and shows that there is still an opportunity for change. Through reform of the EU‘s Common Fisheries Policy, fisheries ministers and members of the European Parliament can end overfishing. But only if you pressure them.

Jonathan Lax (also known as YONIL) is a freelance illustrator and a graphic designer born 1982 in Holon, Israel. His main influences are urbanism, city life in general, music posters, album covers and street arts. He believes that the essence of every artwork is in its basic idea, so naturally, he would usually devote a great deal of time for an idea to emerge.
After graduating with honors almost 3 years ago from the department of visual communication at the Holon Institute of Technology, he started working in a small studio in Tel-aviv. Several months later he went freelance full-time. The works of YONIL were featured in several publications and magazines such as IdN, Illustration Now!, Torso, A5 Magazine, Typoshirt One etc.
YONIL currently lives and works in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Ever since he set off on this journey (as Add fuel to the fire), Diogo Machado’s visual probes have been traveling far and wide, from the digital to the handmade he has collaborated with renown entities, brands and galleries. He now splits his life between the love for illustration and drawing and the need to use the streets as his personal gallery to play with peoples’s minds and attention, adding pieces of “renewed tradition” – the tile panels; adding fuel to help fire up the colorlessness that permeates our daily lives.

St. Dennistoun Mortuary Automaton – Skinner Auctioneers & Appraisers

st-dennistoun-mortuary-automaton-1

“St. Dennistoun Mortuary” is a coin-operated automaton, attributed to John Dennison, c. 1900. The mahogany cabinet and glazed viewing area displays a Greek Revival mortuary building with double doors and grieving mourners out front. When a coin is inserted, doors open and the room is lighted revealing four morticians and four poor souls on embalming tables. The morticians move as if busily at work on their grisly task and mourners standing outside bob their heads as if sobbing in grief. This automaton will be offered as Lot 207 at auction on June 2, 2012 at Skinner Auctioneers & Appraisers in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Estimate $4,000-6,000
