Moan about the present, venerate the past, 2010, acrylic on cut paper, papier-mâché, wood

She creates these three-dimensional sculptures out of papier-mâché and painted cut paper (among many other things) that go far beyond the limits of paper’s two-dimensionality. The layered strips of paper create repeated patterns of texture that feel organic but I’m sure they were meticulously placed. Her color choices, materials, and construction show her sharp attention to detail, all of which make me want to see them in person.
