For this installation at Young Projects in Los Angeles, Michael Haussman shot five different subjects on a trampoline and gave each a specific prop and background. As the artist says, “to the normal viewer, a person jumping on a trampoline is just a figure moving up and down and their expression is a blur of motion. To capture this action and emotion, all the subjects were shot at 2,000 frames per second.
A Japanese performer and designer Showta Mori, demonstrates how his custom smartphone quick release system works. The contraption attaches to your wrist and allows your smartphone to be quickly popped out through your sleeve so that you can make or answer a call.
“Landfill Harmonic” is an upcoming documentary about a tiny village called Cateura, built atop garbage, in Paraguay. More specifically it is about Luis Szaran, Favio Chavez Moran, and a group of children who play in an orchestra with instruments made of trash. I got a little emotional watching this.
